Beverly Sorensen, Fr. Bill Baker, and Barbara Krause delivering a check from St Martha’s to the Alzheimers Assoc. Brian Dannecker Exec Director accepting it. This was from the Kingsley Ave Cafe event held by St Martha's Guild in November 2019, for the benefit of the Alzheimers Assoc, and Safe Horizons for Battered Women.
St Martha’s members voted to give $1000 to Alzheimers, $1000 to Safe Horizon and $500 for a bus to bring "Lakeside residents" to Ascension for Christmas dinner on Dec. 28th as well as $500 to St. Paul's Church to help rebuild their Roof that Collapsed.
We continue to serve Lakeside Manor at 2:30 PM on Sundays with a Eucharist service followed by refreshments served by volunteers. Would you like to be a part of this? All volunteers are welcome.
Sleeping Bags for the Homeless
St. Martha’s Guild helps a group of thoughtful caring people who make sleeping bags for the homeless of NYC out of used clean linens. It is called “My Brother’s Keeper Quilts”. The bags are delivered right out there on the street to the homeless. Supplies needed are blankets, sheets, towels and neckties which are used to hold the rolled bags together. Hats, gloves, coats, scarves and men’s underwear are also needed, as well as thread, sewing needles, sample size toiletries, as well as money to help defray expenses. If you can help, let Bev or any other member of St. Martha’s know. Donations may be left under the coat rack in the back of the Church, labeled “Brother’s Keeper”.
For more information about services at Lakeside Manor contact Artie and Joan Ullstrom and Fr Bill Baker. For all outreach activities contact Beverly Sorensen for more information. You can call the church office for their contact information.
