Why do we eat Pancakes on Shrove Tues?
Making and eating such foods was considered a last feast with ingredients such as sugar, fat and eggs, whose consumption was traditionally restricted during the Ritual Fasting associated with Lent.
What does Shrove mean?
The word shrove is the past tense of the English verb shrive, which means to obtain absolution for one's sins by way of confession and doing penance.
